Baby bed bumpers – Many expectant parents are excited about decorating the nursery and the phasing out of the crib. Most bedding sets on the market, crib bumpers but now research suggests crib bumpers should not be used due to safety concerns.
Baby bed bumpers are soft, pillow-like decorative objects placed in the crib on top of the mattress. The crib bumpers are the crib slats fastened with straps or snaps. Use crib bumpers to protect the babies from bumping their heads or getting their limbs caught between the slats of the sides of the crib.

Plush consistency of most crib bumpers can cause suffocation if the baby’s face is pressed against the material. Older babies are able to use the bumpers as a step to climb out of the cradle and can fall. In addition, the crib bumper ties can be a choking hazard. First Candle and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that all soft items have been removed from the crib, including pillow-like crib bumpers. In response to safety concerns, several companies produced mesh baby bed bumpers to pass through the air. This addresses concerns of the baby’s limbs getting trapped between the slats while also reducing the risk of suffocation from parents.
